Adopted in the International Space Station
Researchers at the NASA Commercial Space Center at the University of Wisconsin found a solution for eliminating ethylene in space experiments. They further developed the ethylene scrubber for a plant-growth unit during a space shuttle mission in 1995.
Scientists have continued to refine this air purification technology for applications including further plant experimentation aboard the International Space Station.
